How to fix "Can Not Open Attachments on the BlackBerry"

I get the following error message when trying to open an attachment on the BlackBerry smartphone: Conversion Error. This problem may be one of the following reasons:
  • The type of attachment is invalid or is not compatible.
  • The attachment is damaged.
  • The attachment is too large or too complex, resulting in the conversion expires.
  • The attachment size exceeds the attachment size limit set by the company's BlackBerry smartphone user.
  • The Attachment Service is busy and reject any new application for attachment conversion until it is freed.
  • Removed the BlackBerry Attachment Service BlackBerry smartphone.
  • BlackBerry Attachment Service in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is stopped.
  • The service book Desktop [CMIME] the BlackBerry smartphone is corrupt.
  • The email message has been deleted or moved to a PST folder.
  • There is a problem with the BlackBerry ® Device Software or the user account on the BlackBerry smartphone.

The attachment type is invalid or is not compatible - Make sure the attachment to be opened is compatible with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This is a list of supported attachments:

The attached file is damaged - The BlackBerry smartphone user should have the sender resend the attachment. The BlackBerry smartphone user must open an attachment from a computer.

The attachment is too large or too complex, which causes the converisón expires - This waiting time is more common for. Pdf or. Txt ASCII above 10 MB. The BlackBerry smartphone user is viewing it in a computer.

The attachment size exceeds the attachment size limit set by the company's BlackBerry smartphone user - Check with the administrator if a file size limit for attachments and if this limit can be changed. If you can not change the limit, the BlackBerry smartphone user must view attachments from your computer.

The Attachment Service is busy and reject any new application for attachment conversion until it is freed - This can occur if multiple users of the BlackBerry smartphone within the same company seeking large or complex attachments. The BlackBerry smartphone user must wait 5 minutes and then reapply the attachment. The maximum time of application for conversion is 10 minutes.

Removed BlackBerry Attachment Service Application from the BlackBerry smartphone - On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options -> Advanced -> Applications. Verify that the BlackBerry Attachment Service is on this list. If not in the list, run the Application Loader to reinstall. See KB03621 for instructions on using Application Loader.

BlackBerry Attachment Service in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is stopped - Open the Windows Services window and find the BlackBerry Attachment Service in the right pane. Verify that the BlackBerry Attachment Service status is Started. If the status is not Started, click the right button in the BlackBerry Attachment Service and click Start.

The service book Desktop [CMIME] the BlackBerry smartphone is corrupt - Remove the service book Desktop [CMIME] completing the following tasks:
1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options> Advanced> Service Book.
2. Select the entry Desktop [CMIME].
3. Open the menu and select Delete.

To receive a new service book Desktop [CMIME], perform the following tasks:
1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options> Advanced> Service Book.
2. Select the entry Desktop [SYNC].
3. Open the menu and select Delete.
4. Wait 1 minute, open the menu and select Retrieve.
5. In BlackBerry Manager, click the right button in the appropriate user account and select Forward BlackBerry service book.

The email message has been deleted or moved to a PST folder - Verify that the email is in Inbox or subfolders BlackBerry smartphone user's Microsoft Outlook. If the message is in a personal folder (. PST) can not be opened from BlackBerry. In Microsoft Outlook, go to Tools> Email Accounts> View or change existing email accounts.
