BlackBerry Completely kills Kik Messenger

It is curious what happened with Kik Messenger, which we review in this blog does just a couple of weeks and many of us and we were fanatical in its implementation and offering a mobile messaging system but BlackBerry Messenger style cross-platform (I used in Android and I communicated with Mariano that he had a Blackberry).

And no sooner was beginning to gain users and industry recognition, Kik RIM decided to take the BlackBerry App Store World but said they remain in discussions with Kik "reviewing the problems and potential solutions."

Finally, BlackBerry decided to go back and completely disable Kik and now they took away the access to the SDK and access keys which eliminates any possibility of Kik Messenger continue to develop for the platform. Furthermore, since all access cut Push to existing users of Kik.

So now there seems no turning back and Kik users in BlackBerry Messenger will not be at all happy. Let's look at RIM's official statement on the matter:

"RIM became aware of a number of problems and customer concerns regarding the implementation Kik and service. Following discussions with Kik, the application was removed from the BlackBerry App World on 12 November. After further investigation, RIM concluded that Kik had breached contractual obligations. Based on the broad scope and severity of problems and concerns, RIM ended its agreements with Kik and withdrew support for the RIM service Kik. "
